Pacific Northwest Weekly Grain Summary

   Pacific Northwest Market Summary:  Cash wheat bids for September delivery ended 
the reporting week on Thursday, September 20, higher compared to week ago noon bids 
for September delivery.  

   December wheat futures ended the reporting week on Thursday, September 20, 
higher as follows compared to week ago closes:  Chicago wheat futures were 27 cents 
higher at 5.24, Kansas City wheat futures were 25.25 cents higher at 5.27 and 
Minneapolis wheat futures trended 26.50 cents higher at 5.8850.  Chicago December 
corn futures trended two cents higher at 3.5250 and November soybean futures closed 
17 cents higher at 8.5025.

   Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat delivered to Portland in unit trains or barges 
during September for ordinary protein trended ten cents per bushel higher compared 
to week ago prices for the same delivery period from 5.90-6.05.  Some exporters 
were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.  White club wheat premiums were zero 
cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids this week and last week.  One year ago 
bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat any protein for September delivery by unit trains 
and barges to Portland were 5.10-5.33 and bids for White Club Wheat were 5.10-5.35.  
Forward month bids for soft white wheat ordinary protein were as follows: October 
5.85-6.07, November 6.00-6.10, December 6.07-6.13 and January 6.08-6.16.  One year 
ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat for any protein were as follows: 
October 5.20-5.37, November 5.20-5.42, December 5.20-5.46 and January 5.2975-5.49.

   Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat guaranteed maximum 10.5 percent protein during 
September trended 10 to 15 cents per bushel higher compared to week ago prices for 
the same delivery period from 5.90-6.05.  Some exporters were not issuing bids for 
nearby delivery.  White club wheat premiums for guaranteed maximum 10.5 percent 
protein soft white wheat this week were zero cents per bushel over soft white wheat 
bids this week and last week.  One year ago bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat 
guaranteed maximum 10.5 percent protein for September delivery by unit trains and 
barges to Portland were 5.10-5.30 and bids for White Club Wheat were 5.10-5.30. 
Forward month bids for soft white wheat guaranteed 10.5 percent proteins were as 
follows:  October 5.85-6.07 and November 6.00-6.10.  One year ago, forward month 
bids for soft white wheat for any protein were as follows:  October and November 
5.20-5.32, December 5.20-5.34 and January 5.2975-5.37.

   Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for September delivery 
trended 15.25 to 25.25 cents per bushel higher compared to week ago prices for the 
same delivery period from 6.17-6.37.  Some exporters were not issuing bids for 
nearby delivery.  This week, bids were as follows:  October 6.27-6.47, November 
6.42-6.52, December 6.47-6.57 and January 6.5575.

   Bids for non-guaranteed 14.0 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring Wheat for 
Portland delivery during September trended 21.50 to 26.50 cents per bushel higher 
compared to week ago prices for the same delivery period at 6.7350.  Some exporters 
were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.  This week, bids for non-guaranteed 14 
percent protein were as follows:  October 6.6850-6.8350, November 6.8350-6.9850, 
December 6.8850-6.9850 and January 6.9750-7.0750.

   Coarse feeding grains:  Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered full coast Pacific 
Northwest - BN shuttle trains for September delivery trended four to nine cents per 
bushel higher compared to week ago prices for the same delivery period from 4.2350-
4.2450.  Some exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.  Forward month 
corn bids were as follows:  October 4.2050-4.2850, November 4.2950-4.3450, December 
4.4050-4.4750, January and February 4.5575-4.5675.  Bids for US 1 Yellow Soybeans 
delivered full coast Pacific Northwest - BN shuttle trains for September delivery 
were not available as most exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.  
Forward month soybean bids were as follows:  October not available.  Bids for US 2 
Heavy White Oats for September delivery trended steady at 3.4825 per bushel.

   Pacific Northwest Export News:  There were 12 grain vessels in Columbia River 
ports on Thursday, September 13, with two docked compared to eight last week with 
four docked.  There were no new confirmed export sales this week from the Commodity 
Credit Corporation (CCC) of the USDA.
